VISITING ALASKA ON A CRUISE TOUR

Back in August of 2009, Rick and I went on a cruise tour of Alaska.  It was a 13-day trip beginning August 19th cruising four days on Holland America's Volendam from Vancouver to Juneau to Skagway then doing a 9-day land tour from Skagway, Alaska into Canada by way of Lake Bennett, White Horse, and Dawson City following the trail of the Klondike Gold Rush (1897-1899) and then on to Alaska down the Yukon River by boat to Eagle, Alaska through Tok, to Fairbanks, Denali National Park and Anchorage traveling by boat, train, and bus.  We met some great people especially Dale and Vicki from Canada with whom we cruised on the Baltic Sea in 2010.

I recommend going to Alaska in the fall because of the colors and also because the animals are out foraging for food so on your Tundra Wilderness Tour in Denali National Park, you can see the caribou, grizzlies, mountain goats, wolves, moose, fox and even lynx.  I also definitely recommend the Tundra Wilderness Tour over the Natural History Tour because you go farther into the park and have a better chance of seeing more animals and better views of the beautiful panorama of the park.

Denali National Park is a must see for anyone going to Alaska.
